Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting for all Moya Library/RHS members and guests, will be held in the Livermore Pavilion. There will be a short business meeting, followed by a presentation featuring photos celebrating the 2008 Centennial of the incorporation of the Town of Ross. A wine reception and luncheon by the Memorial Pool will follow. Further details available later. The First Friday Forenoon lectures are held in the Livermore Pavilion at the Marin Art & Garden Center. The program begins at 11:00 a.m., and last for about one hour. American Cinematheque and the Art Directors Guild are honoring Wheeler with a screening of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1938) at the Egyptian Theater.
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer represents a milestone in motion picture Art Direction as it brought together for the first time as collaborators Lyle Wheeler and William Cameron Menzies. They would go on to design a series of highly acclaimed pictures together for Selznick International culminating in their historic collaboration on"Gone With The Wind".

Louise Boyd, Marin County's Daughter of Fortune
Marin History Museum’s Curator Dawn Laurent will share photos and stories that describe the life and adventures of Arctic Explorer Louise Arner Boyd. Richmond Home Front Festival
On October 4th and 5th, 2008, Richmond will hold its second annual Home Front Festival by the Bay. Numerous activities and vendors await festival-goers at several locations, including booths, kids' activities, food and a vintage car show at Lucretia Edwards Park and entertainment and the USO Dance at the Ford Building Ceremony.

History of East Contra Costa County
A history of the communities of Brentwood, Byron, Oakley, Knightsen, Bethel Island, and Discover Bay from Native American occupation to present. Course topic areas include: Native Americans, Geography, Byron Hot Springs, Spanish/Mexican period settlement, John Marsh, agriculture, Balfour Guthrie & Co., Architecture, Delta Recreation, and modern communities. Classroom presentations will be made by noted topic specialists and historians. Course moderated by Images of American, Brentwood, Byron Hot Springs, California Delta, and East Contra Costa County author, Carol A. Jensen.
Course fee $25.00. This is a 9 meeting, non-credit course open to all ages. Kevin L. Nelson will speak about his popular book, The Golden Game: The Story of California Baseball.
